Mechanical Designer

The Mechanical Designer will support the engineering department in with the execution of revisions and new component releases through the Engineering Change Review (ECR) Process for the Subsurface Compressor System (SCS), including the motor, compressor, bearing systems and their subcomponents. This will entail, but is not limited to, updating existing designs. creating tooling designs, creating new product designs and managing large assemblies from concept to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute revisions to production hardware through the ECR Process.
  • Assist in the release of new hardware designs.
  • Check drawings for other design team members.
  • Generate CAD models and drawings for the Subsurface Compressor System. 
  • Create and manage assemblies and sub-assemblies. 
  • Apply relevant Industry Standards and Upwing Guidelines to designs and drawings.
  • Generate detailed design solutions for related components, including new designs and modification of existing designs with the support of the Design Team.
  • Work with suppliers to incorporate the best manufacturing methods into the design.
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Design associated assembly tooling for the machine fabrication.
  • Attend project meetings as necessary.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Must be deadline driven and team oriented.

Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering/Design
  • 2+ years of design experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic familiarity with GD&T standards, ASME Y14.5 is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Solidworks PDM is a plus
  • Experience with ERP software and more specifically GlobalShop is a plus
  • Experience interfacing with vendors and customers to incorporate their input into final product and design is a plus 
  • Ability to specify hardware, such as fasteners, O-rings, fittings, etc. is a plus
