The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the engineering department with the execution of revisions and new component releases through the Engineering Change Review (ECR) Process for Subsurface Compressor System (SCS), including its motor, compressor, bearing systems and subcomponents.  This will entail, but is not limited to, updating existing designs, creating tooling designs, new product designs, and managing large assemblies from concept to production.  The design engineer will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by participating in the product build and test phases of the development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Execute revisions to production hardware through the ECR Process.
• Assist in the release of new hardware designs.
• Check drawings for other design team members.
• Generate CAD models and drawings. 
• Create and manage assemblies and sub-assemblies. 
• Apply relevant Industry Standards and Upwing Guidelines to designs and drawings.
• Detailed design of rotating machinery. 
• Work with suppliers to incorporate the best manufacturing methods into the design. 
• Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
• Design associated assembly tooling for the machine fabrication.
• Attend project meetings as necessary.
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others is a must.
• Hand calculations to support design work as needed. 
• Assist in product assembly and testing of new concepts and troubleshooting assignments. 
• Deadline driven and team oriented.

Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:

• B.S Degree in Engineering 
• Internship design experience including hands-on experience working with hardware
• Internship experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software 
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Basic familiarity with GD&T standards, ASME Y14.5 is a plus
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience with Solidworks PDM is a plus
• Experience with ERP software and more specifically GlobalShop is a plus
• Experience interfacing with vendors and customers to incorporate their input into final product design is a plus
• Ability to specify hardware such as fasteners, O-Rings, fittings, etc. is a plus
