Upwing Energy is developing and commercializing first-of-their-kind Subsurface Compressor Systems (SCS) for natural gas extraction.  Our development efforts combine exciting engineering challenges in turbomachinery; rotordynamics; high-speed and high-power electric motors; power electronics; industrial automation; aerodynamics; as well as gas well application engineering and learning from field operations. 

The ideal Data Analyst will transform raw data into structured information, which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions. This position encompasses a comprehensive analysis lifecycle, covering data acquisition, reduction, correlation with engineering findings and observation, trend analysis, and reporting to accelerate learning and failure diagnosis and prognosis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather data from primary and secondary sources, ensuring the upkeep of databases and data systems. 
  • Detect, examine and decode trends or patterns within intricate datasets. 
  • Cleanse data and scrutinize computer-generated reports and outputs to identify and rectify coding errors. 
  • Coordinate with engineering management to align business and informational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements. 
  • Employ statistical techniques to scrutinize data and produce actionable business insights. 
  • Develop data dashboards, charts, and visual aids to support decision-making across departments. 
  • Convey insights through both reports and visual presentations. 
  • Report updates of activities and status to team and management regularly. 

Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or a comparable discipline is required, with prior experience in data analysis preferred.
  • Possess a solid foundation in statistics and practical experience with statistical software, such as Excel, SPSS, and SAS, and a mastery in data analysis languages, such as SQL, Python, and R. 
  • Exhibit exceptional analytical abilities to compile, structure, examine, and present substantial data sets with precision and thoroughness. 
  • Capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights. 
  • Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background. 
  • Ability to evaluate options, propose solutions and make decisions when required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Most time will be spent in an office environment. Personal protective equipment is required in designated areas. Minimal travel will be required to support products in the field.
