CERRITOS, Calif. – Apr. 24, 2023 – Upwing Energy, an end-to-end (E2E) comprehensive natural gas service company, will exhibit and present a paper on magnetic coupling technology at the 2023 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).
The paper, entitled "Magnetic Coupling for Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) and Downhole Gas Compressors," will be presented on May 3 by Patrick McMullen, Chief Technical Officer at Upwing Energy.
The paper describes the hermetic isolation of critical electrical systems from harsh downhole liquids and gases through the use of a magnetic coupling. McMullen will explain the design and analysis of the magnetic coupling as well as present the build and test results.
Upwing's magnetic coupling can be used to enhance performance and reliability of ESPs and downhole compressors by providing non-contact torque transmittal from one shaft to another using magnetic fields, thus eliminating sealing along rotating shafts, and instead relying solely on static seals.
Upwing Energy will display its Subsurface Compressor System™ (SCS) and demonstrate the benefits of its E2E Comprehensive Natural Gas Service at Booth 2452.
Through its E2E Service, Upwing Energy becomes the single point of contact for artificial lift equipment, operations and data for increasing the production and recoverability of natural gas in a clean, safe and economical manner.
OTC, founded in 1969 and held annually in Houston, is where energy professionals meet to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters.
