Buyer

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment and services necessary for our company's operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost and delivery performance. Own the procurement process from RFQ to generating a purchase order to resolving invoice issues. Negotiate price and lead time to achieve best value for the company and to support production schedule. 
  • Order Management: prepare and process purchase orders, ensure orders are processed promptly and accurately. Track orders and resolve any issues related to late delivery, quality or pricing. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, contracts and supplier information. Update and maintain vendor's lead time, pricing and minimum order quantity. 
  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Conduct regular reviews of supplier performance and address any issues or concerns. On boarding new vendors. Updating/maintaining the approved vendor list.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with internal departments to optimize purchasing strategies. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the team and with other departments, such as production, quality control and finance, to understand their needs and ensure seamless procurement processes. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and drive operational efficiencies.  

Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, supply chain, operations or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in procurement for a manufacturer, including raw material, outside processes and MROs. 
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective supplier relationships. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and procurement software. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Excellent time management. Effectively prioritizes tasks and concentrates efforts on key priorities. Demonstrates strong planning skills and maintains awareness of deadlines, responding appropriately to immediate, short-term and long-term requirements.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques. Personal protective equipment may be required in some warehouse areas. Position duties will primarily be indoors with occasional travel to nearby suppliers.
